Hydrogen and Emerging Energy Technologies

CEP 380 provides an in-depth examination of hydrogen as a pivotal energy carrier for a sustainable future. The curriculum delves into the fundamental principles and operational aspects of various electrolyzer technologies for green hydrogen production, alongside the design and application of fuel cells for efficient energy conversion. A significant focus is placed on understanding and implementing robust hydrogen safety practices, including handling, transport, and infrastructure considerations, to mitigate risks effectively. Furthermore, the course investigates advanced long-duration energy storage solutions, comparing and contrasting different approaches vital for grid stability and renewable energy integration. Students will also explore other nascent energy technologies and their synergistic potential with hydrogen systems, preparing them for careers in this dynamic sector.
